eBooks vs the Book Stores

It occurred to me the other day, as I was browsing through a Borders Book Store, that book stores are especially dangerous places for internet marketers to get information.
The reason is simple. Information there is likely to be hopelessly out of date.
Here’s what happened…
Do you agree or disagree?

Jeff,
I have found over time that this is also true of incentive material built into many of the email offers of internet info marketers. Many of the “gifts” and “free” materials are three and four years old. I guess that lends credence to the old saying about one getting what they pay for!
Nice blog. Jay

One of the great advantages of e-books over books is that you have aproduct which will reach the whole Earth is only minutes. It isnt going to cost you thousends and thousends to publish either. The only danger is that
anyone can write a book, regardless of their being able to do so. This means the buyer could end up purchasing a product online ad end up with a lemon written by a small town novice “wanna be” Author.
So what ?….there are many RICH “wanna be” Authors writing books and getting them published. The only way for me to find out if the books a lemon is to buy it and read it.
At the end of the day, it doesnt matter where you purchased your lemon from the advantage you have from an ebook is that you can delete it with one mouse click. It wont be laying around the house collecting dust.
The only thing I love about “real” books is that I can read them where I want. This will always be the great advantage books have over a digital product. You can feel them. You go to the bookstore, buy your book and watch it being wrapped up befor taking it home and unwrapping it.
Thers is nothing like being able to “feel” your own purchase. I gives you the feeling of accomplishment. Its yours and only you can read it.
One last thought: how am I going to wrap up an e-book and put it under the xmas tree ?

Hi Jeff:
I got your e-mail about your new blog site so I decided to come and check it out.
It is cool. Lots of useful info.
What you said about ebook vs book buying is very true.
In 2000 I bought a few books about internet business, but because I was very busy at that time, couldn’t read any until six months later.
But when I began reading them, I found out they were copyrighted like 2-3 yrs before and most of the information in those books were already out dated!
I felt disappointed and the worst being that I couldn’t return those books back to the bookstore. And the information were worthless and not useable.
And it is of no use to try to sell them to a used bookstore because nobody in their right mind will buy a used book that is out dated for about 4-5 yrs which has worthless useless information.
So, I believe it is wise to buy ebooks instead.
And what e-commerce site on the internet carry more up to date ebooks?
CBMall (Clickbank.com) Storefront ofcourse.
So, I hope your readers will remember this the next time they want to buy a book. Buy an ebook instead.

Hi Jeff,
I agree, there are advantages to eBooks, but they are still only as good as the author. I, by far, prefer to read a real, portable, read anywhere, paper book but in the rapidly evolving industry of technology the eBook is King.
However, I’m a little confused about your statement that Alta Vista, Excite and Lycos don’t exist anymore. Unless they exist as ghosts in my computer, when I go to those sites they appear to be very much up and running.
Regards,
Elisabeth.
