Do shoppers trust the organic results they find in a search engine more than the sponsored results? Do they even realize the difference? This video gives you the answers as published in the book, Online Shopping Through Consumers' Eyes: A Study of Online Users' Responses to 107 Questions

Hi,
yes, interesting. I have heard of another research, that was more “visually” oriented, meaning not so much just “SEO vs adwords consumer trust” but the exact part of the google result screen, that gets the most attention and click responses, and that result was slightly different from what you said, in that the top four – six results INCLUDING the one to three adwords ads, that are placed ABOVE the organic results get 70 % of all attention & clicks. This doesn’t say anything “about trust to buy” though and is derived not so much from what people say, but from how they actually behave.

very interesting. I will buy this book now. I suspected this from some of my testing, but didn’t know for sure. Even though we have this data it’s doesn’t mean a business shouldn’t use PPC though.

Very interesting information. Intuitively I felt the same way.I stopped my PPC
ads and started to concentrate on building the web presence before I decide to continue with PPC.I’m not sure if it is the best decision, but that is what I also do when I find something I go and check in organic search if there is any info on that person or company that offers a product or service. So,I think you are right. It worth to spend time on SEO.

This is great backup information for my intuitive feelings that customers are most interested in sites they can trust and that they trust natural results more than sponsored results. Anyone can try to buy their way to the top. I always come away with helpful information of some kind after reading your articles and listening to your tutorials. Thanks for sharing with us Newbies!!

Hi Jeff.
The research statistics in your video is very good information. Especially for
people that are just getting started with PPC, or are thinking about using PPC. Thanks for the free report.

I wouldn’t take this research as a reason not to invest in PPC. That’s still a viable source of traffic and sales. All those billions are coming from people who are mostly making money on PPC ads or they would be doing less of it.
It does point to another benefit of SEO and ranking well. It’s important for anyone to understand the basics and especially avoid SEO mistakes.

This research was simple and i think it means that people trust what comes up through their keywords on Bing etc. Am i right? Is that what natural results mean?
And does sponsored ads mean content ads or text ads on MSN yahoo & google?

Sponsored ads are the AdWords ads on the right hand side and sometimes on the top.
Natural results are what shows up when you type in keywords – the main part of the listings.

Hi Jeff,
Your newsletter taught me how to make a comment on your blog, so her I am
If I want to buy, any description that completely answers my call to buy will be clicked on SERP 1 or 2.
If I want info, the organic results must be really irrelevant for me to click on an ad.

Both they are very necessary and they must go in line together like part of a marketing strategy. At the outset he is recommendable to use PPC to obtain immediate results, while the positioning in finders works.
